The Walker AIRSEP has been installed on U.S. Coast Guard vessels since the early 1990s.
Once viewed as a vessel enhancement, the AIRSEP quickly gained respect for its dependability and performance on vessels by various Coast Guard personnel and commanders. Then in 1997, the AIRSEP was selected as the product of choice to retrofit the entire fleet of 41 UTB and 44 MLB vessels, as well as other mid-size patrol craft. In all, over 300 vessels were equipped with the system. The project exemplified the U.S. Coast Guard's commitment to reduce water pollution and improve the environment.
Today the AIRSEP regularly appears on newer and older vessel refurbishment projects. Review for utilization of other Walker products like the ALGAESEP® and FUELSEP® continues.
Current reviews of the Walker FUELSEP® have shown that improved fuel economy extends effective patrol duration for light duty homeland security vessels, even those equipped with outboard motors.
